One of 200 prints issued as part of the series ga taikan (Encyclopedia of Noh Plays) depicting a lion dance from the play Uchito mōde by the playwright Kongō Nagayori.

To welcome an Imperial envoy who is making a pilgrimage to the Great Shrines of Ise a priest there first recites a prayer an preaches.  Then, in the second half of the play, a priestess performs a kagura dance and the priest a shishi-mai, a 'lion dance'.  Finally, the priestess dances again.
