About This Print

This Unsōdō published posthumous print depicts a sea bream, a favorite painting subject for Seihō, three examples of which are shown below.

Unsōdō, who published most of Seihō's print works during his lifetime, re-printed, from newly carved blocks, a number of Seihō's original works after his death.  This print is one of them and has been re-issued several times by Unsōdō.

“What is amazing about fresh fish is their beautiful coloration, that the more I take a look at it, the more I see how beautiful it is. To me, they look even more beautiful than flowers on land.”
 - Takeuchi Seihō
