One of seven prints by the artist that appeared in the magazine Shin Nigao, whose purpose was to advertise the Kabuki theater and renew interest in actor prints.  The actor portrayed is Ichikawa Sumizō VI (1886-1971) 市川壽美蔵 in the role of Hōkaibō, likely in the play of the same name.
