About This Print

This print depicting a raid on a gambling den, was "published in Kyoto long after the news nishikie boom had come and gone in 1874-1876."  The cartouche reads "Nishikie shinbun" / "No. 7" / "Meiji 14-4-21" [21 April 1881].1  The illustration covers four articles on the same topic in the top half of this print.
